How to deactivate Starlink V2 antenna motors
Share
In the past, to keep your Starlink V2 antenna flat, the only solution was to cut a hole in the antenna to deactivate the motors. But there's a small revolution because now it's possible to configure the position of the antenna without damaging it (and losing its warranty)!
Why deactivate the motors of the Starlink antenna?
There are 3 main reasons why you would want to deactivate the motors of the Starlink antenna:
1- Obstruction problem when the antenna reorients
2- Facilitate the installation of the Starlink V2 antenna on a solar panel arch or on the roof of a camper van
3- Moving use to reduce wind resistance and limit micro-cuts
How to adjust the Starlink V2 antenna to a flat position?
- Make sure you have the latest version of the Starlink application (2024.14.0)
To check your version, you can go to the Starlink application, scroll all the way down and check the version number as illustrated below.
If you don't have version 2024.14.0, you will need to update the Starlink application.
To do this, go to the App Store (iPhone) or Google Play (Android) or your application manager, locate the Starlink application and click on 'Update'.
Here are the steps to adjust the position of the Starlink V2 antenna flat:
- Open the Starlink application on your phone, log in to your account
- On the main page, click on 'Settings'
- Click on 'Tilt
- Select the 'Flat' option, then click on 'Save'.
Starlink indicates that the 'Flat' or flat position is designed for use in motion.
It is also specified that motion use is not recommended for the standard V2 antenna but for a speed below 8 knots (15 km/h) you will not encounter any problems!
