Offshore navigation with Starlink: How do I activate Mobile Priority Data?

When your navigation takes you more than 5 - 10 miles from the coast, depending on your plan, you may need to activate Mobile Priority data to maintain an internet connection with Starlink.

When should I activate the Mobile Priority option?

- I have a Mobile Priority plan (by default with the High-Performance Mobile Starlink Kit):

If you have the Mobile Priority plan, you can use Starlink at sea with peace of mind (50 GB, 1 TB, or 5 TB of Mobile Priority data usable at sea depending on your plan).

If you exceed the data limit included in your Mobile Priority subscription and have not activated additional Mobile Priority data, you will not be able to access the internet when you are at sea, except to access your Starlink account. Activate the option to automatically purchase additional Mobile Priority data and maintain connectivity at sea.

- I have the Roam - Mobile plan (Regional or Global) (by default with the standard Starlink kit):

If you have the Standard Starlink kit and the Roam - Regional/Global Mobile plan, you can only use Starlink more than 5 - 10 nautical miles from the coast with the activation of Mobile Priority data (~€2.29 / GB consumed in Europe) in addition to the Roam Mobile plan or change your plan to a Mobile Priority plan.

Which plans offer the activation of Mobile Priority data?

You will need an active Starlink plan (and not on pause). Roam plans (Regional Mobile or Global Mobile) or Mobile Priority plans provide access to the activation of Mobile Priority data.

How do I activate Mobile Priority data on the starlink.com website?

For plans with Priority or Mobile Priority data options (Roam and Mobile Priority), you can activate or deactivate the option at any time from your Starlink account page.

Here are the steps to activate Mobile Priority data on the starlink website:

  1. Go to the starlink.com website and log in to your account.

  2. Click on "Manage" under "Your Starlinks".

  3. Select the "Priority" or "Mobile Priority" option.

How to activate Mobile Priority data on the Starlink app?

  1. Go to the Starlink app and make sure you're logged in to your account.

  2. Click on the icon in the top right corner.

  3. Click on "Data Usage".

  4. Activate Mobile Priority data (Next to "Opt-in data" you will find the cost of Mobile Priority data per GB).

How are Mobile Priority data billed?

For Mobile Priority plans, it is possible to activate Mobile Priority data to use additional GB at sea after exhausting the data quota during a given month.

For all plans, once the Mobile Priority option is activated, you will be automatically charged for the (additional) data used beyond the limit included in your plan (until you deactivate it), including for subsequent billing cycles.

Additional data is billed per GB used. You can track your monthly data usage on your account.

Your purchased additional data will be displayed and billed on your next monthly invoice.
